Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal:

Fact, Fiction, and the Future

 September 24, 2025
9:00 AM — 11:00 AM

315 W 35th St Floor 12, New York, NY 10001

We’re bringing together voices from science, business, and philanthropy to address some of the most persistent misconceptions about marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR).

Ocean-based CDR continues to mature, with advances in science and quantification, advances in  commercialization, and cross-sector learning.  Amidst this progress, outdated and incorrect narratives about ocean-based CDR may be delaying the realization of mCDR’s potential.  This event will confront these myths directly—from concerns about ecological safety to the skepticism around quantification—and highlight the progress being made.

We invite a broad range of folks to attend— credit buyers, investors, insurers, brokers, technology developers, and other folks who want to better understand the current momentum in ocean-based solutions.

This event—part panel, part networking—offers space for candid dialogue and connection across disciplines. We hope you’ll join us to help build shared understanding, break down silos, and drive the field forward.

Carbon to Sea Initiative

Carbon to Sea is the leading initiative evaluating whether the ocean can help us mitigate the impacts of climate change through carbon dioxide removal, or CDR. We are funding and partnering with leading scientists, engaging with governments and communities, and encouraging responsible sector development to build the trust and rigor required to determine the potential of Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement (OAE).
