  • There are two ways to get to Santa Teresa from SJO & LIR:

    FLY:

    Getting to Santa Teresa via commercial internal flights

    It’s a 6 hour drive to Santa Teresa from SJO, so you will want to get a 20 min internal flight to Tambor Regional Airport “TMU”. (Roughly $160 + tax one way per person).

    Getting to Santa Teresa via private charter internal flights

    If for some reason those flights are not available, (or you prefer a more VIP arrival), we can offer you a Private Charter Air Service where you’re collected from SJO. To book please What’s App Everardo on +506 8821 6209.

    Can land directly in Santa Teresa:

    - Islander: $1,425 for the entire plane, up to 4 passengers, (up to 35lbs luggage and 1 carry on per person)

    - Kodiak: $1,750 for the entire plane, up to 6 passengers, (up to 50lbs luggage and 1 carry on per person)

    - Caravan: $2,200 for the entire plane, up to 10 passengers, (up to 40lbs luggage and 1 carry on per person)

    Can land in Tambor only:

    - King Air: $2,500 for the entire plane, up to 6 passengers, (up to 80lbs luggage and carry on per person)

    DRIVE:

    Getting to Santa Teresa via rental car from SJO or LIR airports

    Another option for getting from the airport to Santa Teresa is to rent a car and drive yourself.

    • SJO to Santa Teresa, (including a scenic ferry crossing) is about 5 hours drive.

    • LIR to Santa Teresa is about 3.5 hours drive

    FYI we don’t recommend having a rental car as the roads are very rocky and thin and ATVs are the best way to get around.

    Getting to Santa Teresa via shuttle

    For $350 you can take a private shuttle from SJO or LIR Airports.

    Getting to Santa Teresa via helicopter

    The final and most sensational option is via helicopter. Door to door its 50 minutes, its very scenic and the quickest arrival option available. The rate for this service starts at $3000 one way for 2-3 people.

  • This to do is N/A if you’re driving directly to your accommodation.

    Booking a taxi from a domestic airport

    If you arrange the transfer flight from SJO to TMU on your own and need a ground transfer, please let Lu know the flight information, so she can help coordinate the transfer to Santa Teresa, as there is no taxi stand at Tambor Airport. You can what’s app Lu on: + 506 8560 7401

    From Tambor Airport we can either:

    * Send a taxi, ($50 total for up to 4 passengers one way)

    * Or have a rental car waiting for you.

    The ride from Tambor Airport to the Red Palm Villas is bumpy but very scenic 35-minute drive.

  • The best way to get around is via ATV in Santa Teresa. They get booked up REALLY fast so this is one of the first things you should do.

  • From Tambor

    From Tambor airport, continue straight on to Cobano and from Cobano drive to Santa Teresa. Take a right turn at the Playa Carmen crossroad and Red Palm Villas is located 3miles down on the left hand side. Red Palm Villas entrance is 500 Mts North the grocery store La Hacienda on your left hand side. Check this map for more info.

    From San Jose

    You take the Interamericana Highway and drive 2 hours northwest to the port town of Puntarenas. In Puntarenas take the ferry to Paquera which is located on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. The ferries leave Puntarenas every two hours during the high season and the ride across the Gulf of Nicoya is a scenic 1.5 hour trip here is a link where you can check the schedule and price of the ferry. Including the ferry it’s about a 5 hour drive. A little tip is that when you get to Puntarenas get in line for the ferry Paquera, then get out of the car (leave someone behind) go find the place near the dock and purchase your tickets. Don’t wait in the line of cars for the ferry. This will get you on the ferry faster. When you arrive in Paquera take the road to Tambor, continue straight on to Cobano and from Cobano drive to Santa Teresa, finally take a right turn at the Playa Carmen crossroad and Red Palm Villas is located 3miles down on the left hand side. Driving from Paquera to Santa Teresa takes about 1.5 hours and is about 30 miles. You can check this map for more info.
